Tomorrow morning we will get to visit Alexander!!! We are really, really excited about that and pray that he will be receptive to us again. We're hoping to get to see him quite a bit during the week, but we'll take it one day at a time. We just want to be able to pick him up and bring him back to the hotel with us! We can't wait! We are expecting that we will get to pick him up from the orphanage on Saturday.
Tomorrow is also a holiday in Russia. May 1st (May Day) is celebrated similar to Labor Day in the US. We're interested to see what kind of celebrations we may encounter in the plaza outside the hotel and throughout the city. We also wanted to let you know that you will not get an update tomorrow because of the holiday. The business center at the hotel will be closed.
We are less than 2 weeks away from coming home! We haven't started the "official" countdown yet, but it's exciting to think about! Happy May Day to all of you! We'll update again on Tuesday!

Wow, sounds like a nice little vacation that you are having there. I was chuckling to myself about Mike trying out the vodka and beers. Mark makes beer at home and he was so excited to try some new brews while we travelled. I'm a tea totaller so it was totally lost on me. I love the pics and updates on Marina. Sounds adorable and looks and sounds like she is ready to move into the big sister role. You have a beautiful family.

I just found out that I can just type things in and they will be sent to you. How cool is that! Modern technology sure has its benefits. Mike, I was thinking about that standard vodka you were talking about in an earlier blog. I wonder how it would taste in some of those wonderful jello shots that you and Kristen have made. Maybe you could find some room for a bottle or two on your trip home. Or if you want you can ship them directly to me and I can keep a close eye on them for you.
It is wonderful being to keep up with the five of you on your trip. Marilou and I talk about it everyday.

I am LOVING that we get to see some of what you are doing and seeing. John & Joyce look like they are having a good time also. It is good to see the landscape pictures as when we all think of Russia, you think of only what you see on TV and that usually is never good.
Hope that all went well with Alexander today, but if it didn't fret not...he'll warm up again, it's been a few days so it might be a little harder for him to remember that you are his. This extra time is just what was needed and I am sure it will be a blessings to get to know him a little more and he you before you take that big trip back to home on the airplane.
Keep us posted. Hope your first Russian May Day Holiday went well.

We were just talking about May Day here in the states and how we all delivered May baskets with flowers when we were much younger. Also had the May Pole dance in elementary school. Mike and Kristin probably didn't do that.

Grandpa and Grandma are enjoying Siberia, and as you can see from the pictures, it is not at all what we thought it would be like, nor what most Americans think it's like either. It is beautiful and we are enjoying all the side trips that we are able to take. It's been fun spending time with Mike, Kristen and Marina, and soon to be Alexander. Our thanks to all our friends and relatives that have been leaving comments and sending e-mails. Our love to all.
