We just got back from the orphanage from our visit with Alexander. Another great day! It actually was more of the same from yesterday.....tentativeness and some tears. But every day that we get to spend with him will help! He has a pretty bad respiratory infection (as do many of the children) so he is just not feeling well. He also recently had an ear infection and we're thinking he may still be recovering. Poor little guy! But, we still enjoyed our visit immensely and can't wait to go back! We were in the therapy room for the entire 2 1/2 hours today which was nice. We played with some of the same toys, and a few new ones. Tomorrow we get to go back again and I think we will try taking a few snacks with us and maybe a sippy cup with water or juice. We only saw a smile or two today, but we're sure they will become more frequent as time passes. We are planning to take Marina, John and Joyce to the orphanage to meet Alexander before we bring him to the hotel. We want to give him quite a bit of time with just Mike and I first, so we will probably take them sometime next week, nearing the end of the 10 day waiting period. I know they are all anxious to meet him!
Again, another beautiful day in Siberia! We've been very lucky with the weather so we've been able to spend lots of time outside with Marina. She loves feeding the pigeons out in the plaza and walking along the river. This afternoon we are all going to take a walk to the main street in Krasnoyarsk. I'm sure we'll find all kinds of fun shops!

Congratulations again!! We're so thankful for each day's successes. We hope and pray that Alexander will be to feeling better soon. That 10 days you have to spend there may save him from having to fly back with ear pains.
The weather here in South Bend has been cool and rainy. It's 5:45am and 29 degrees. It feels like ... Siberia? No, it's worse than Siberia! (How is it that Joyce & John always find some warm and cozy spot in the world to kick back and soak up the rays.)

I couldn't be happier that all is going well. Sorry that the little guy is not feeling well. Hopefully, he'll be on the mend sooner rather than later. Especially for the flights home! Fret not...he'll warm up to you both soon, just like Marina did! Glad to see that Marina is having fun also! But of course she is always happy playing outside! But how cool I am sure she thinks that the pigeons will come right up to her.
This is so great to be able to see what is going on each day. I am sure that I speak for all your friends and family when we say a BIG thank you for letting us share this with you both in words and pictures.

Thanks for letting me tag along vicariously. Sounds like things are going great. I completed my happy dance for your court date. I hope your little guy is feeling better soon. If it's any consolation, it's going around at Vanya's school. It will pass and he will feel better.

I am so excited to be able to follow along on your journey. If anyone could warm up to two people quickly, it's you and Mike! It's great to see pictures of both of you with Alexander, can't wait to see Marina right along there with you! Congratulations from the Heminger's also. It is so exciting to be able to follow your journey. Our DLS was down all day today and I was so anxious to see how things were going. Glad that we could see the photos of all those happy faces in Siberia.
Hope Alexander continues to heal so he can come home feeling well. It will be a long enough trip without having to worry about his ears hurting. We pray for his healing and your patience.

He is adorable! It seems so familiar hearing about all that you are doing there. It is funny to see pictures of Marina in the same places that we have pictures of her but she was so much smaller then. She has really grown and is just beautiful. I remember how it was the first few times back at the orphanage with Thomas felt a little awkward but just think how much he and Marina have changed and how their personalities have just blossomed since then- Alexander will warm up to you all. By the way, you and Mike look great, I can see how proud you are of your new son. Congratulations from us both- we couldn't be more thrilled for your entire family! Can't wait to hear more and see more pictures:)
