Sand and sun (and a little bit of rain)

We enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend camping at Warren Dunes State Park. It was a great weekend and none of us were ready to come home. The weather was perfect on Saturday and Sunday and was very conducive to our plans to play on the beach. Now, the water in Lake Michigan was COLD (probably in the low 50's) but the kids still couldn't stay out of the water! They had fun jumping over waves, building sand castles and looking for rocks and seashells! We all love the beach! Grandpa and Grandma F. came to visit us on Saturday evening and we are really glad they did. They stayed for dinner and yummy campfire treats! We braved the very steep sand dune that leads from the campground to the lake on both Saturday and Sunday evenings. Alexander didn't make it up on Saturday, but Mike, Marina and I did and it was worth every last gasp for breath that we took. It was hard! Alexander went all the way up with us on Sunday. The view from the top was beautiful and running back down the dune was way too much fun! Alexander's method of getting back down was to roll, and you'll see in a picture below just how much sand can stick to the face of a 3 year old! It rained through the night Sunday night, but cleared up and was nice for us to pack up all of our stuff to head home yesterday. We had to lay a few things out to dry once we were home, but really it wasn't too bad! I hope all of you enjoyed your holiday weekend! Bring on summer!!!
