On Wednesday Marina had her last ballet class for the year. They had a family observation day, meaning that we (parents and siblings) got to go into the studio and watch from the inside! This also meant that in my futile attempt to keep Xavier still and quiet I had time to take zero pictures. Sorry! The owner of the dance studio approached me after class to tell me how proud she is of Marina and the progress that she's made this year. She has asked us to take the summer to think about moving Marina up a level for ballet in the fall. We are very proud of her and the hard work that she puts into her activities! Way to go, Marina!
On Friday Marina had her last day of school. She has finished 1st grade and is very excited to be moving on to 2nd grade. She had a perfect report card and also did great on her Georgia standardized testing. Again, we are so proud of her. In true Marina fashion, she put her heart and soul into school and did such an awesome job! Here are a few pictures of her party on the last day of school....

Marina had a 2-day horse show over the weekend in Alpharetta. It made for 2 very early mornings for us this weekend, but was well worth it! On Saturday morning Marina rode in her usual 3 classes and placed 4th in her first class, 2nd in her second class and 2nd in her third class. Her horse, Chico, was a bit sassy for her on Saturday, wanting to do his own thing rather than obey Marina's commands, so it was a bit of a frustrating ride for Marina, but she handled it well and did well in her placings.

We were hopeful for a better ride on Chico this morning for Marina, and were glad to see Ms. Jenny riding Chico hard in the warm-up ring when we arrived. Marina then had a chance to hop on and remind Chico just who's boss! :O) She rode really, really well today and Chico behaved like a perfect gentleman for her! She scored 2nd place in her first class, 1st place in her second class and 2nd place in her third class, earning the most points and winning the Champion ribbon and prize! Way to go, sweet girl!!! After she finished riding this morning her trainer was told by the manager of the farm that Marina is ready to move up a class in the shows. Yikes! I really like having her in the pre-beginner class where the trainers get to be in the ring with the riders. I would be happy if she could continue riding in this class, but I also know that challenge will be good for her. Once again, her hard work has paid off! We'll see what the future shows hold for her!
