Happy 1st birthday, Xavier!!!

I know there are some grandparents and aunts and uncles anxious to see pictures from Xavier's big day today, so I didn't dare go to be tonight without posting about the big 1st birthday!! :O)

We all had a lot of fun today, especially Xavier! Even though he is still recovering from having the flu on Thursday he was a happy little guy and ready to dig into his presents! He must have had enough practice at Christmas to know just what to do to get those presents unwrapped! Here are a few pictures of some of the gifts he received today. Thanks so much to all of you who sent gifts down for him to enjoy! We enjoyed every one of them this afternoon!!

This aftenoon it was really nice outside so we spent the day at home. We went for a nice, long walk this afternoon and played outside for a long time. It was nice for all of us to get outside and get some fresh air. I think it was about 60 degrees and sunny. After opening presents this afternoon and having dinner this evening it was time for the birthday cake! It's kind of hard to tell in the picture, but the cake I made was in the shape of a #1. Marina and Alexander picked that out for him, which made it even more fun to make! We decorated the outside edge of the cake with red, white and blue star shaped sprinkles. He loved the cake and dug right in as soon as I put it in front of him. As typical with 1 year olds...he made a huge mess and it was a ton of fun! As soon as he was done eating/playing with his cake we were off to the bathtub!

After all the fun and festivities our little guy was in bed by 7:30pm. He was tired and had a nice long day! It was so much fun finally getting to celebrate a 1st birthday with one of our kids....although each of their "first" birthday's home has been awesome! Xavier gets to visit his pediatrician on Monday for his one year appointment, so I'll post after that about how he has grown since coming home.

Thanks again to those of you who sent gifts and cards today to celebrate Xavier's birthday and for those that called and e-mailed to send along their wishes. We wish every one of you could have been here to help us celebrate!
