Over the weekend we attended the Bethany Christian Services Multicultural Festival in Grand Rapids. The weather was great, the festival was great and we had a great time! There were lots of games for the kids to play, face painting, clowns making balloon animals, a petting zoo, a stage where there were ongoing performances from all different countries, booths selling country-specific items, ethnic foods, etc. We only planned on staying for 2 hours, but had a hard time dragging the kids out of there 4 hours after we arrived! I commented to Mike about how being there was really an awesome thing. Every family there has been touched by adoption in some way and just to know how many of the children we saw came to be in their forever families was really, really neat! It was neat to see God’s plan for these children and families!
On Sunday Mike’s parents joined us for a trip to the zoo in Battle Creek. We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed seeing all of the animals. The big highlight is always riding the tram out to feed the giraffes! We also rode the train this time, which we haven’t done before. Oh, and they now have a carousel that the kids loved riding on, too! It was really fun! Mike’s brother and his fiancé joined us in the afternoon to celebrate Father’s Day. We had dinner at our house and enjoyed the company.
This week my niece is coming to stay with us and we are all very excited! My sister and her family live out in Iowa, so we don’t get to see them nearly as much as we’d like! The kids are so excited to have Caitlin coming and have promised me that they are going to share all of their toys! We’ll see how that goes!! :O) Regardless, we are going to have a great time!
