Fun in the sun!

The summer is already going by so quickly….but we are enjoying it tremendously! Alexander just recently (within the past 2 weeks) got to visit both sets of grandparents houses for the very first time! We went to the Froehlich’s house for a family pool party 2 weekends ago and it was a great time! Both of the kids LOVED playing in the pool and they also enjoyed spending some time with their cousins! Marina is just tall enough now to stand by herself in the shallow end of the pool, and by Sunday she was walking all over the place….very proud of herself! :O) Alexander has absolutely no fear of the water and wanted to swim all by himself. He went underwater several times and was not bothered by it at all. He is going to turn into a little fish, I think!

On the Tuesday and Wednesday following the pool party the kids and I spent a night at Grandma and Grandpa Miller’s house. We visited a petting zoo, fed the ducks and played on a huge playground! The kids had a blast!

Over the 4th of July weekend, we were up in Cadillac with some friends. We spent the day on Sunday in Manistee at the beach on Lake Michigan. Alexander’s first trip to Lake Michigan!!! Just as we suspected…..he loved it! Lots of sand and lots of (COLD!!!) water! Both of the kids didn’t seem bothered by the chilly water temperature, but it sure did keep me out of the water! Brrrrr!!! We had a picnic on the beach and relaxed and played all afternoon! A perfect day! On Monday we spent the afternoon at a smaller inland lake just North of Cadillac. The beach wasn’t as nice, but the water was warmer and again, the kids had a great time!

It was all smiles on Lake Michigan, even with the COLD water!!!

Marina is enjoying her swim class more and more each week! She is getting very brave and has even gone underwater and jumped off the side of the pool. I’m very proud of her! Hopefully she will use these new skills in Grandma and Grandpa’s pool! She is also loving her dance class and looks forward to going each week.

On Monday (July 10th) Alexander will be having minor outpatient surgery in Marshall. We ask that you please keep him in your prayers and that the procedure goes very well and his recovery is quick!

Next weekend we are going camping for the first time as a family of four! I have been looking forward to this for a very long time! Marina loves to camp and has been asking about going for quite some time now! She’ll be thrilled when I tell her next week that we’re going!
