A bit about my boys...

We have had a very busy week or more!  Unfortunately, not all of that busy-ness has been good.  Here's the deal.....

Last week Alexander came down with a nasty case of strep throat.  His tonsils were so swollen you could see them bulging on the side of his neck and he was so sore that he kept his head tilted to the left side for days and days.  I think it was at least 4 or 5 days like this.  It hit him really hard but he is back at 100% now, thank goodness because....

...now Xavier is really sick.  He had a high fever (103.4) when he woke up from his nap on Thursday.  I called the phone nurse to see what she recommended as far as treatment for him overnight and to make an appointment to get him in on Friday.  We had an appointment made for 9:15 on Friday morning, but around 10:00pm on Thursday Xavier woke up with a fever of 104.7.  YIKES!  I called the on-call physician and she calmed my nerves a wee bit and gave me some suggestions as to how to get his fever down and just when exactly I need to make the decision to get him to the ER.  Luckily I kept my wits about me and was able to slowly work his fever back down to under 102 by midnight.  We went to the doctor Friday morning and both the strep test and influenza test came back negative.  He was diagnosed with RSV and we were sent home with orders to go to the hospital to have a chest xray and RSV swab done if his temp reached 103 or higher.  Guess where we ended up on Friday afternoon?  Yep....the radiology department and the laboratory at the local hospital.  Xavier was a champ getting the xray and swab done, but by the time we got home his temp was up to over 104 again.  The on-call physician called me at 10:30 last night to let me know that his chest xray was clear, which meant there was no sign of pneumonia.  He did not have the results of the RSV swab at that point but guessed that Xavier did in fact have RSV along with bronchiolitis.  So, since Thursday afternoon we have been alternating tylenol and motrin every 3 hours around the clock trying to keep his temperature down and have been only mildly successful.  It was back up to 103 again today but I'm hoping for a brighter day (and a much healthier little boy!) tomorrow!  And of course, we would appreciate your prayers! 

Alexander had his first soccer game this morning.  It was a cold, rainy morning but it was good to see him back out on that soccer field.  He had a lot of fun playing and scored the only goal for his team.  Way to go, buddy!  He seems to be really excited about playing soccer again, too!

 Alexander also tested for his yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do today.  As you can see from the picture below, he was successful in earning his yellow belt and was equally as excited to have broken 2 wooden boards!  I am so proud of him and he is just as proud of himself!  He has worked hard in TKD and it truly is something that is not easy or natural for him, but he sticks with it and is progressing well! 

And last but surely not least....my husband.  The one who has spent the last week in India and will soon be moving on to Poland.  He has enjoyed his adventures in India so far.  He was blessed to have not been too effected by jet lag, which makes functioning so much easier!!  He spent the week at one of the Eaton facilities in Pune, India and was able to meet many or all of the engineers that are working for him now.  Earlier today he traveled down to the southern part of the country to the area where one of our sponsor kids (Athulya) lives.  He has the amazing opportunity to spend a good part of the day on Monday with Athulya and her family, visiting their home, touring the child development center that Athulya attends and having lunch with them.  He is really looking forward to it and I cannot wait to hear all about it and see pictures of that awesome day!  And on Monday night he will begin making his way to Poland, where he will spend the majority of the next week.  I simply cannot wait for him to come home! 

Tomorrow we are hoping to get some fun in if everyone is feeling up to it.  Coloring Easter eggs seems to be top on the list for the kids, so I think maybe we'll start there and see where else the day takes us!  Hope you are all well!
