Mike and I met with our social worker this morning to go over our progress for our upcoming adoption. We went through all of the information and it was very exciting talking about our new addition! We are moving along in our paperwork and if all goes well we will have our approval date by the end of the month. We are currently waiting on 4 reference letters, our medicals (which will be done next week) and a letter from the State of Michigan. Once all of that is returned to our agency we will receive our approval date and will officially be put on the "waiting list!" We also have to have our homestudy updated and our fingerprints done, but that will not hold up getting our approval date.
We confirmed the wait times with our social worker today. Right now, they are expecting it to take 12-15 months to receive a referral once we have an approval date, and 3-6 months after referral for travel. So, with any luck (and a lot of prayers!) we might just have a referral by September/October/November of next year! She also confirmed that the children are approximately 11-13 months old when they travel home.
Other than that, there really isn't a lot to report. We will definitely post when we have our approval date. It will be a long wait, but at least we will feel a whole lot better knowing we are on the "official list!" Thanks for your continued prayers. As time goes on and the wait gets harder and harder I know we will take any prayers we can get!
