Vacation...

It’s always disappointing when vacations come to an end. We had a wonderful time with my family in Ohio and the week went way too quickly. It was so nice to spend the time with my family, and I know they all enjoyed the time with the kids. The weather was really nice most of the week and we spent the majority of our time doing things outside. We went golfing, bike riding, played games, went to the Toledo zoo, went swimming, swimming and more swimming.

Marina has turned into a little mermaid in the water. She now swims under water and I’m surprised at how long she can hold her breath! She also loves jumping off the side, and will do so without anyone catching her now! It’s so fun to watch! Alexander also is doing very well in the water. He is a little water bug and also enjoys jumping in from the side of the pool. He has no hesitation about going underwater and spends a great amount of time splashing and laughing! He also learned how to float on his back last week, and it’s hilarious to see! These two are just too much fun!!

We have a few more fun weekends planned before the summer ends. We are supposed to go camping in Ludington in 2 weeks, but Mike is going to spend some time in Germany and may not make it home in time. If we have to cancel, it’s no big deal, but we were looking forward to one last camping weekend. We are also going to spend a weekend in Rothbury with Mike’s family near the end of September. His sister and her family will not be able to join us since she is pregnant and due early September. We can’t wait to find out if we will have a new niece or nephew! So, that also means a trip up to Gaylord in the near future to meet our newest family member!!! Fun stuff!

We have been receiving updates from most of the families that we traveled with to Russia in April/May and it’s so neat to follow the progress of all the kids! We have created a special bond with these families that we hope will last a long, long time. All of them are doing really well, adjusting very well and growing and changing so quickly! It’s just too bad that we are all so spread out across the U.S.!

Well, it seems like summer is starting to wind down. Marina starts preschool a week from today! She still tells me that she doesn’t want to go, but I think she will enjoy it tremendously once she gets used to it and understands more about what they will do. I’m really excited for her! It’s just so hard to believe! Pretty soon playgroups will start up again for the fall and winter and we are looking forward to that as well. And for me…..the MOPS year begins tonight, so I will be involved in that again this year. I am on the steering committee again, but this year I am the Publicity coordinator. It’s a really fun group to be involved in and it’s been a great opportunity to meet moms with young kids in our area.

Well, I think that about sums up what’s been going on with us lately. We have a few more busy weeks before we start to slow down, but we’re enjoying ourselves! There are still many of you that we’d love to get together with! We’ll work on it….. :O)
