Horse show

Marina had another very successful horse show on Saturday...although it wasn't without a bit of excitement.  She finished 3 of the 5 classes that she was riding and received 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in those 3 classes, which also earned her the Reserve ribbon.  She did so great!  As she was riding in her 4th class a storm came up and chaos began!  The horses were all getting nervous and it became apparent that the riders were all quickly losing control of their horses.  The horses began trotting, mostly in one large pack, into one corner of the (covered) arena.  It was at that point that all of the trainers, parents, etc. went into the arena, got all the girls down off of their horses and hunkered down, waiting for the storm to pass.  Lots of big thunder and lightning is not fun when you are sheltered under a huge metal roof!  We waited (I'm guessing) somewhere around an hour for the storm to pass before they began the show again.  Marina rode very, very well in the 4th and 5th class, earning a 2nd and 1st place ribbon.  I have a few pictures to share, but once the rain came (and it came HARD!) the camera quickly got put away for the duration of the event.  Oh...and you'll notice that the judge waived jackets for the show and approved polo shirts, so the girls were all much more comfortable!

Alexander was supposed to have his first soccer practice on Saturday, but because of the weather it was cancelled, so we'll try again tonight.  He is very excited and ready to get out on that field!
